At Prompty, we build software that respects your privacy by default. Because Prompty is a native macOS application designed to act as your personal prompt library and AI workspace, we have architected it so that your data remains yours. This Privacy Policy explains our data practices.

1. Local Storage & iCloud Sync

Your prompts are yours. By default, all data you create in Prompty (prompts, snippets, templates, variables, and folders) is stored locally on your Mac's hard drive.

If you enable iCloud Sync, your data is synced using Apple's CloudKit. This data is stored in your private iCloud database. We do not have access to your iCloud data, nor can we view, modify, or share it. Apple's privacy policy governs the data stored within your iCloud account.

2. Third-Party AI Providers (Bring Your Own Key)

Prompty uses a "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) model. To use AI generation features, you must provide your own API keys for third-party providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Ollama, etc.).

• Keychain Security: Your API keys are securely stored in your Mac's native Keychain Access. Prompty never stores your API keys on our servers or in plain text files.
• Direct Communication: When you execute a prompt, Prompty communicates directly from your Mac to the respective AI provider's API. Your prompts do not pass through our servers.
• Third-Party Policies: Any data sent to an AI provider is governed by that provider's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. We are not responsible for how OpenAI, Anthropic, or other providers handle the data you send them.

3. Analytics and Telemetry

We do not track you. Prompty does not include third-party tracking software, analytics frameworks, or hidden telemetry. We do not track how many prompts you create, what you type, or how often you use the app. The only crash reports we receive are those you explicitly choose to share with developers through Apple's native macOS crash reporting system.

4. Payment and Licensing Data

When you purchase a Prompty license, the transaction is processed securely by our authorized merchant of record (e.g., RevenueCat). We do not collect or store your credit card information. We only receive the information necessary to generate and validate your license key (such as your email address and a transaction ID).

License validation requests are sent from the app to our licensing server solely to verify that your license key is valid for the current device. This request contains an anonymous device identifier and the license key.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this Privacy Policy.
